HPV Vaccine

HPV Vaccine is now available at Student Health

The FDA recently licensed Gardasil® (manufactured by Merck & Co.) the first vaccine developed to prevent cervical cancer and other diseases in females caused by certain types of genital human papillomavirus (HPV). The vaccine protects against four HPV types, which together cause 70% of cervical cancers and 90% of genital warts. The vaccine is approved for use in girls/women ages 9-26 years. The vaccine is given through a series of three shots over a six-month period.

This vaccine is now available at Student Health Service through the Nurses Clinic at a cost of $125.00 per injection (series of 3 injections at 0, 2 and 6 months).

NOTE: Effective 9/24/07, SHIP insurance will cover 50% of the HPV vaccine administered at Student Health to students 26 years and younger. Students with SHIP would then pay only $62.50 per vaccine.

No appointment is needed, simply check in at the front desk. Nurses Clinic is open 8-11am & 2-3:30pm Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri; and 9-11am & 2-3:30pm Wed.
