Optometry Volunteer Program

Students who are interested in gaining experience in the optometry field can apply as volunteers at SHS. We require a minimum of four hours per week. This program will provide the opportunity to interact closely with the staff optometrist, optician, and clinic staff. We are also able to customize your volunteer experience within the areas that most interest you. If you have an interest in the volunteer program, please stop by the Vision Clinic to fill out a volunteer application. We recruit new volunteers each academic quarter.
Note: We are not accepting applicants in the Optometry Clinic at this time. Please check back in June, 2008 for updates.
Internship Program
We offer an educational program for pre-optometry students interested in gaining practical experience in a clinic setting. We require a commitment of one quarter and a minimum of 4 hours per week for this program. The training encompasses all areas of the clinic practice and a recommendation letter from the optometrist may be written based upon performance. Open positions are posted on the Career Services job listing website. Applicants should apply through Career Services when available.
