Our Radiology Department performs skeletal and chest x-rays to assist our clinicians in diagnosing conditions such as pneumonia,
fractures, dislocations, etc.
Radiographers are medical personnel who perform diagnostic imaging examinations and are trained in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, as well as radiation safety and patient protection.
Our radiology department is inspected by the State of California and is accredited by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
Charges
There is no charge for x-rays for students with SHIP insurance. There is a $20 charge per body area for those students who have waived out of SHIP. If copies of x-ray films are requested, there is a $5 charge regardless of insurance coverage.
Hours
Radiology hours during academic quarters are 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 pm., Monday through Friday (except Wednesday when the clinic opens at 9:00 a.m.).
No appointment is needed.
Our Clinical Laboratory supports our clinicians' diagnoses through testing and analysis of patient specimens.
The laboratory is fully licensed by the State of California and the Clinical Laboratory Information Act (CLIA). We are also accredited by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
The SHS laboratory can perform many tests in-house, including basic hematology (complete blood counts), most cultures, pregnancy testing, and urinalysis. Some laboratory tests must be sent to an outside laboratory (Quest Diagnostics).
Charges
There is no charge for medically-indicated tests for students with SHIP coverage. For students who have waived SHIP insurance, there is a $10 lab processing copay, and modest charges for tests that are sent to the outside laboratory (see Cost of Services page for PAP smear and HIV test charges.)
Fasting Instructions
Fasting is required prior to some laboratory tests. Fasting means no food, drink (other than water), or gum for 12 hours prior to the test. Routine medications may be taken with water. DO NOT FAST BEYOND 14 HOURS.
Hours
