UC Smoke-free Policy

UC San Diego, along with all the UC campuses, became a Tobacco and Smoke-free campus in January 2014. This contributes to a healthy environment for all staff, students, faculty and visitors.


The 3rd annual "Kicking Butts Off Campus Cleanup Day" - April 19, 2015!

40 volunteers were able to pick up 19,053 cigarette butts in one hour!

Smoking Cessation Counseling

If you are a student and a smoker who would like to quit, Student Health Services can help. You can make an appointment with a Health Educator at Student Health Services by calling (858) 822-5926. Smoking cessation appointments at SHS are free, and cessation aids are available.

Phone Counseling

If you prefer phone counseling to help you quit, call the California Smokers' Helpline at (800) NO-BUTTS.

Prepare to Quit Smoking Workshops

If you are thinking of quitting, plan to attend a "Prepare to Quit Smoking" workshop led by a trained health educator who can assist you in determining your readiness, making a plan and QUITTING! No appointment is needed. Smoking cessation aides are also available.
